Halloween Craftiness

It’s day two of the SITS Girls Halloween Challenge. Today’s challenge was to get crafty and show off some fun Halloween Creations. Crafting is something I love to do. Whether it’s being creative in the kitchen or with a paint brush. Any materials will do. This year several fun projects came up, one from a kit, one from cake and the other from the garbage (sorta).  They were fun to do because they involved my two girls in some way. Without further ado, lets take a look-

First up, the Shrinky Dink Halloween Tree:

My eight year old and I found this awesome kit in Barnes and Noble. We love Shrinky Dinks. They are a great craft for kids and always come out cute.

Next up was the vampire cupcakes for my eight year old’s class Halloween party:

Okay, this recipe came from the October issue of Women’s Day magazine. It looks almost like the picture and if I had to make one would have been enjoyable. But since I had to make  24 of these suckers, NEVER AGAIN !!

Thanks goodness my 19 year old helped me put the eyes on. I had no patients left to stick tiny sprinkles into their faces after rolling out Tootsie Rolls for the capes! Not kidding.

That leaves the best project of all. My milk jug creations:

Again my eight year old and I whipped these up yesterday morning. My sister had been visiting here a few weeks ago and showed me a picture of someones house with a few ghosts like these. Well I thought to myself , surely I can do better than Sharpie ghosts. These will light our path for the trick-or-treaters tonight. I think we will add some more for next year.

Here is what they look like without the flash:

Hope you all get crafty yourselves and share your creations. Have a Happy Halloween!

I LOVE the cupcakes! See? That is the kind of thing I WANTED to make, but my son’s school couldn’t have anything Halloween-themed, so I had to make something fall or harvest-like ( and completely peanut contamination free). Those are hard parameters to work with. So, instead of rolling out tootsie rolls, I was pulling apart Oreos.. which is way harder than I thought it would be to keep all the white cream on one side. Ohhh, that’s so dissapointing when the schools won’t let kids be kids. I know what you mean with the food allergies.
This year my daughter’s class has none, but last year one of the kids has an egg and dairy allergy. I hated her being left out all the time so I always tried to find something for her. Not so easy to do. Thanks for stopping by-

Those are absolutely amazing! I’m very impressed with all of it, wish I was half as creative.

The cupcakes look so yummy, now I’m craving cupcakes.
